Village Business Association

The Village Business Association (known as V.B.A.)

The Village Business Association (known as V.B.A.) is designed to offer a forum to meet, discuss problems and keep up with the ever changing requirements and challenges of running licensed premises in and around the Vibrant Cosmopolitan Gay Village.

The V.B.A. has been established for 6 years and has been an important voice in the shaping of various policies regarding the management of premises in Manchester.

The V.B.A. consists of member venues each of which can be represented at the meetings by the licensee or their nominated manager/owner etc. At meetings, votes on issues are often made.

Each venue represented at the meeting can vote (one vote per venue regardless of numbers of people present from the venue).

The V.B.A. main strength is in the contributions made by members themselves and the experience they can lend to other members.

The meetings are chaired and guided by a committee made up of members who are elected annually. These positions comprise: Chair, Vice-Chair & Treasurer.

Neither the committee, guest speakers, police, nor members of the council (who are all invited to attend) can vote.

For clarification, representatives from Security firms are NOT permitted to attend these meetings.
