Pat Karney"On behalf of the Manchester City Council, I am pleased to support the new and exciting interactive web site for The Manchester Pub & Club Network. For 19 years the council has worked in partnership with members of the network, Greater Manchester Police and other agencies to make Manchester one of the safest and most vibrant city centres in the country.

Manchester is without doubt an exciting place to live, work and visit; and is the North West’s regional centre for finance, leisure, retail and culture, with over 95 thousand visitors every weekend.

It is world famous for its music scene and buzzes into life at night and through schemes such as The Pub and Club Network with its members working in close partnership with the authorities and each other, one of the safest and most forward thinking cities in the country."

Mark Burtonwood"GMP are proud to support Manchester's Pub and Club Network new interactive website. Ourselves, the City Council and other agencies have worked closely with the Pub and Club Network for the past 19 years to make Manchester a safer and enjoyable place for the thousands of people that visit our fantastic City every week. The new website will help to continue and develop that working relationship and will provide an excellent opportunity for agencies to interact.

Our long standing tradition of working together allows us to engage with the drinks industry to improve the management of licensed premises and promote the provision of safe and socially responsible, sensible drinking.

As a consequence, we are able to continue to reduce the number of alcohol related assaults and injuries and also reduce the instances of drunken, rowdy behaviour, which obviously helps to improve the quality of life for our residents and create a better experience for our visitors and the entertainment trade's customers.

We will continue to support the Manchester Pub and Club Network building on our successful and positive history of working together."

Rachel Christie"The Manchester Pub and Club Network has always been central to the consultative and decision making process when constructing and applying licensing guidelines for Manchester.

Many forward thinking schemes were pioneered in Manchester and we all take pride in seeing them adopted further afield. The Pub and Club Network has always been receptive to new ideas and positive in helping to trial these schemes and show that with collaboration and determination, a whole city can benefit from them.

Manchester has successfully introduced late night taxi marshals, glass free policies in stress areas, an alcohol byelaw in the city centre preventing consumption of or the carrying of open containers of alcohol, the drugsafe scheme, the Best Bar None awards scheme and many others.

We would like to congratulate The Manchester Pub and Club Network on its continued work and hope that we can achieve still more by working together in the future."
