City Centre Cellar Vie Bar up for Sale
Cellar Vie, the Manchester city centre club that has been open since the 1960s, is up for sale.
The Lloyd Street bar has held a number of guises through different owners over the years, but its latest management team has been running the venue since 2002. It’s gone on the market with Cheshire-based Harvey Silver Hodgkinson for £129,950, however, due to the recent poor health of its owner.
The club currently only opens two nights a week – Friday and Saturday - and is operated entirely by its staff.
The sales brochure says the owners are looking for a ‘speedy sale’ but offers ‘tremendous potential for an enthusiastic owner operator to increase the existing takings’.
The club currently pulls in £7,000 a week and the asking price includes the business, the lease – which runs for 25 years from 2008 - and all fixtures and fittings. The rent on the venue is £865 a week and the bar has a licence for seven days a week.
Andrew Donaldson, senior negotiator at Harvey Silver Hodgkinson, said: “It’s unfortunate that it is for sale today due to ill health, but there is real potential to increase the takings by providing office functions and parties”.
