Dates for the four of the five regional workshops on Government plans to reform licensing have been revealed.

Licensees can apply to attend the sessions, but spaces are limited to 50 at each one. They will be held at:

London, Sanctuary Buildings, Monday 2 August

Newcastle, Government Office North East, Monday 9 August

Blackpool Football Club, Friday 13 August

Birmingham, Government Office for the West Midlands, Tuesday 17 August

The date for the Cardiff session has not yet been revealed.

The invitation says: "We would like to invite you to a workshop, to seek your views on policy proposals to be outlined in a forthcoming consultation on the rebalancing of the Licensing Act to empower local communities to tackle alcohol-related crime and disorder."

Morning and afternoon workshops, each lasting about two and a half hours, will be held. There will be presentations on the policies proposed followed by roundtable discussions.

"Please note that places at these workshops will be limited to 50 per session.

"We are anticipating a high level of demand and will be allocating spaces on a first come first serve basis.

"Officials from the Home Office and related Whitehall departments will be in attendance to present the proposals outlined in the consultation document and facilitate discussion."
