Licence revoked at Manchester bar
Sunday 21st February at 7:50 pm
A Rusholme bar has had its licence revoked after residents complained about its loud music that played until 4am at weekends.
Manchester City Council took the decision against the venue after hearing evidence from the city’s environmental health team and Greater Manchester Police.
The council received complaints about loud music at Saki Bar, which could be heard up to 100 metres away, and crowds of drinkers gathering on the streets.
Several attempts were made to resolve the issues previously through noise abatement notices and meetings with management.
“This premises was having a detrimental effect on local residents, who complained about noise and other problems linked to the bar,” said deputy leader of the council Jim Battle.
“Although we tried on numerous occasions to work with the premises’ owners, they ignored our offers of assistance and we had no option other than to revoke the licence.”
Saki Bar has the right to appeal within a few weeks.
Morning Advertiser tried to contact the venue but had not received any response at the time of publication.
